The balalaïka… this magical instrument...
Nicolas Kedroff comes from a famous russian artist family. He is so fond of it that he spends all his life working on it, passionately, since and forever…
Internationaly reputed, winner of the « Coupe du Nord » challenge in Russia, he continues his soloist career in France and in the whole world. In particular, he was several times the guest of the Russian National Orchestra OSSIPOV.
In 2001, he has been awarded as « Knight of the Order of the Arts and the Letters». Described by medias as the « Paganini of balalaïka » (Le Parisien), as well as « an extraterrestrial » of balalaïka (Le Midi Libre)…
Nicolas Kedroff is on stage with his old friend, the great russian guitar player Oleg Ponomarenko !
Nicolas Kedroff grew up in Paris among the white Russian community. At 13, he discovers balalaïka. It is love at first sight and he decides to devote himself to this instrument. Nicolas studied balalaïka with Micha Makarenko in Paris and with Sergueï Cheglovitov in Moscow, but the musician learnt a lot alone, by practicing.
He played for a long time in Paris russian cabarets : Raspoutine (Dima Liakhoff Orchestra) and Balalaïka (Marc de Loutchek Orchestra). Nicolas played with several singers as Ivan Rebroff who took part in many ensembles with whom he released recordings, made concert tours and radio-tv programs.

Leon Schwartzenberg, Marina Vladi, Ludmila Zykina, François Mitterand and Jacques Chirac applauded the artist and recognized his huge talent.
Nicolas Kedroff also appears in few films : "Rire et Châtiments" by Isabelle Doval, "Hell" by Bruno Chiche and recorded the soundtrack of Danièle Thomson’s film : "La Bûche".

From 1985 to 1990, he taught balalaïka in the Rachmaninov Conservatory in Paris and from 1991 to 1995 he taught balalaïka to 100000 students during the JMF national concert tour, with the singer Bielka.

Nicolas Kedroff plays on an exceptionnal instrument made by a reknown string instrument maker : S. Nalimov.
