ANGHJULA POTENTINI
Corsican Women Voice

Anghjula, coming from Poggio d’Oletta, grew up in corsican singing tradition, that she expresses with a magnificent full voice, warm and compelling.

She likes to say that corsican singing “has been full part” of herself since her childhood.
During her many performances with different corsican men and women groups, she has been noticed and supported by her pairs who saw in herone of the most beautiful women voices on the corsican island.

But if ANGHJULA sings oral tradition, she also created innovation, surrounding herself with a great TRIO from classical background.

Their music respects the original songs structure, but adds to it a complementary colour, with arrangements that varies, following their imagination and universe.

During their concerts and in every type of place : in churches, in theatres or open air, ANGHJULA POTENTINI knows how to touch public’s heart!
New  album :  A  LETTERA  D’AMORE (may 2006) - Buda Musique
In this new album, we have traditionnal songs, such as  « A lettera d’Amore », which is a very old one, written by a woman and which gives its name to the album. She also chose to revival 2 songs, « Dimmi Perchè », old creation of the Vincenti brothers, and « Beata Funtanella » written by Ghjuliu Bernardini.« U tempu chì passa » by Ghjuvan Petru Ristori, is more comtemporary, but still accurate to the traditionnal style. And a creation «Caccara Filipina », tribute to her grand-mother.

To make this album on solo, Anghjula called 3 musicians coming from a more classical Background.
A violonist, a doublebassist and a pianist who plays Marimba and Mélodica, an alchimy wanted, from which comes out a fresh and coloured sound...

“No doubt that she is one the greatest and most beautiful women voices nowadays in Corsica, with a perfect accuracy and a “ricuccata fabuleuse nustrale”. This encouraged me to invite her to my future concerts such as the Canari one.” Antoine Ciosi during his guitare performance in Patrimonio in duo with Anghjula Potentini" - Corse Matin

“Her voice is rich et sober. Generous and clear. Despite the difficulties, Anghjula wouldn’t give up singing. Thrilling the tradition with her heart. Her gold rule? Being faithful to her deep feelings and touching universel as talking from here is talking of human.” Michèle Acquaviva-Pache - Méditerranée

“Anghjula Potentini : emotion voice, noticed and supported by Antoine Ciosi who saw in her one of the most beautiful women voices, the young singer is promised to a brilliant future.” Francesca Quilichini - Fémina
